Behind the Plate Tournament Rules
1. Format of Play
This is a 4-person Captain’s Choice (Scramble) format.
Each player hits a tee shot on every hole.
The team selects the best shot.
All players play their next shot from within one club length of the selected ball (no closer to the hole), unless on the green.
This process continues until the ball is holed.
Only one score per team is recorded on each hole.
2. Tees
Men play from the designated men’s tees.
Women play from the designated women’s tees.
Seniors (if applicable) may play from designated senior tees.
Men tee off from women’s tees when tee-buster is purchased.
Women tee off from the 200 yard mark when tee buster is purchased.
3. Minimum Shot Requirement
Each team must use a minimum of:
1 shot per player per 9 holes.
4. Ball Placement
Fairway: Place within one club length of the selected ball, no closer to the hole.
Rough: Place within one club length, staying in the same cut of grass.
Bunkers/Hazards: Ball must remain in the hazard and be played as it lies (preferred lie only if local rules allow).
Putting Green: Ball must be placed within one putter head length of the selected ball, not closer to the hole.
5. Order of Play
Team members may hit in any order.
After the best shot is selected, the player whose shot was chosen may hit first, last, or in any order the team prefers.
6. Mulligans (If Applicable)
Each player can purchase up to two mulligans.
Mulligans cannot be used for Longest Drive or Closest to the Pin contests.
7. Maximum Score (Pace of Play Rule)
Maximum score per hole: Triple Bogey.
Pick up once the maximum score is reached.
8. Out of Bounds & Lost Ball
Follow local course rules.
If a ball is lost or out of bounds, the team may:
Replay from the original spot with a one-stroke penalty, OR
Drop in the fairway (if local rule applies) with agreed penalty.
9. Putting
All putts must be holed (no gimmies unless specified).
The ball must be marked and replaced when lifted on the green.
10. Scorekeeping
Each team is responsible for keeping accurate score.
All scorecards must be signed and turned in immediately after the round.
Ties will be decided by:
